Characteristics

Located on the most south-western tip of Bali in the Pecatu region, New Kuta Golf opened in 2007. Home of the Indonesia Open 2009, the course is a links-style layout that gave the pros plenty to talk about and especially on days when the prevailing Indian Ocean wind was up. The majority of the pros praised the Indonesia Open set-up for its challenge while winner Tongchai Jaidee looked forward to coming back rather sooner than later. USA course designer Ron Fream created a resort course with plenty of tee box options so it can be played by high-as well as low handicappers. The in-land holes #1 to #9 are situated in an area that is pretty green. It is fringed by impressive limestone rock formations. The back nine plays toward the Indian Ocean and when the wind comes in from this body of water, then the stretch of holes #12 to #15 can become more than you have bargained for. The par 3 hole #15 is awesomely placed atop a hanging cliff and make sure you watch the view before leaving this classic sea-side hole. The finishing hole is a par 5 that brings an end to a truly memorable golfing experience.
